This is a list of known bugs in the latest stable release, 2.1.6.

This lists only the most obvious bugs. If you find a bug in the latest version of Freeciv and it is not listed here, please look for it in our bug tracking system RT. If it is a new bug, you can use RT to report it or e-mail your bug to the RT e-mail gateway. RT also contains information regarding previously fixed bugs.

The number appended to each bug is its RT ticket number.

  • Sometimes when you load a game - usually after a crash - your player is under AI control. You can either retake control with /aitoggle [rulername] or load an earlier autosave. PR#22082
  • Your CMA settings are only sent to the server when you press turn done, and therefore changes you make to CMA in the same turn as you save a game will be lost. PR#39802
  • The autoattack option generally doesn't work very well. PR#39803
  • Automate routines like auto explore don't handle triremes very well. PR#39804
  • Bad things happen when you manipulate multiple global worklists simultaneously. PR#39805
  • Air goto attack on unit or city not possible. The workaround is to move your unit with the numerical keyboard. PR#20772
  • The client will crash while trying to connect to a network game if old metaserver data is present. The solution is to delete old settings data. PR#38691
  • Island generator doesn't generate any rivers. PR#15947
  • Island generator sometimes connects two or more continents. PR#17435
  • Focus on active unit is sometimes lost during automove and you have to manually press c to center on it. PR#3390
  • GTK: Several dialogs are too large for 1024x768 or lower resolutions. PR#32290
  • GTK: Tabs turned to pop-ups by double-clicking them can't be restored to tabs. You have to close and reopen them. PR#21640
  • SDL: Support for battlegroups and multiple-unit selection has yet to be implemented in this client. PR#39806
  • SDL: Support for GGZ Gaming Zone has yet to be implemented in this client. PR#37856
  • SDL: The help system lacks an index, but you can browse it by middle-clicking on a tech, unit, or building in certain dialogs. PR#39807
  • SDL: The help system truncates long entries. PR#37985
  • SDL: Right-to-left text unsupported. PR#39705
  • Windows: Savegames can only be loaded from certain locations. PR#16813
  • Windows/GTK: Turning off fullscreen mode has no effect. You have to save settings and restart for it to take effect. PR#12119
  • Windows/GTK: When closing a window, focus is sometimes lost to another running program. PR#12098
  • Xaw, win32, and mui clients are in various states of brokenness as of 2.1.0.
